Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The Lobatse High Court has suspended the appointment of Khakhea Chief\u2019s Representative, Kgosi Kebualemang Kutlase and Headman of Records Mr Johnson Morotsi, pending the outcome of an ongoing legal battle concerning the posts.<\/b><\/p>\n

The duo, who were appointed and confirmed to the respective positions in February, have been removed from office through a court order issued on September 20.<\/p>\n

Addressing Khakhea residents on December 15, Senior Chief\u2019s Representative, Kgosi Kwelagobe Mookodi explained that the court ruling emanated from a court case in which five residents had notified the High Court of their pending appeal challenging the minister\u2019s decision to appoint and confirm the duo.<\/p>\n

The applicants, Fetumba Motsholopi, Sereiwa Sehanhale, Setswamorago Batsheng, Mamaki Lekgoa and Kabolele Kesenkilwe, also indicated that they represented the Khakhea community.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Mookodi noted that in the interim, the residents would get services from neighbouring villages of Kutuku and Itholoke.<\/p>\n

He also urged them to avoid victimising the applicants for exercising their rights as Khakhea residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cI urge you to remain calm and await the results of the court case, which will be instrumental in mapping a way forward. You should also desist from pointing fingers at each other or victimising the applicants in the case in order to preserve peace in the community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said government has since applied for the reversal of the court order, and the case was scheduled for February 21 at the Lobatse High Court.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Mokgala Mosesane of Itholoke reiterated that Khakhea residents should keep the peace and respect the applicants.<\/p>\n
