Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Employees must be mirrors of their organisations and reflect the desired image to Batswana, including investors and the world beyond with a view of creating an enabling environment for a prosperous nation as espoused in Vision 2036.<\/b><\/p>\n

Minister of Defence and Security, Mr Kagiso Mmusi said this at the official opening of a three-day Team40 Mindset Change training in Gaborone on Monday.<\/p>\n

The training is the ministry\u2019s initiative to equip a team of 40 officers with the necessary skills and knowledge, in order to be mindset change torch bearers.<\/p>\n

Minister Mmusi said in the three days, trainees would be equipped with skills that would empower and address the core of inner beings of thoughts, feelings and behaviour so that they attained their ideal of being a centre of excellence, an epitome of self-discipline, self-value, professionalism, good governance and high performance.<\/p>\n

He said the ministry mindset change roadmap themed; Holistic Mindset Change, My Responsibility! A re Chencheng; Maikarabelo Ke a Me!, was a guide to the implementation of the national mindset change campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cMindset change starts with oneself and you can only preach mindset change successfully if you have transformed yourselves,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The minister urged trainees to infuse teachings with enthusiasm and requested them to uphold and utilise identity, governance systems, tolerance of diversity, unique natural and cultural resources and national values of Botho, Botswerere, Botlhaga, Bonatla and Bofefo that make Botswana unique.<\/p>\n

He further said a positive mindset change rooted in innovation, collaboration and adaptability would strengthen their capabilities to better serve the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the beginning of spadework to uproot the prevailing mindsets that inhabit change, progress and growth in our ministry including its departments and agencies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Team40 comprised personnel within the ministry departments, including Botswana Defence Force, Botswana Police Service, Botswana Prison Service and agencies who were nominated by the ministry as change of agents on the basis of their capability and mutual passion for creating a safe and secure environment.<\/p>\n

Major General Hendrick Rakgantswana of BDF said Team40 had begun the transformation journey to mindset change in the ministry as they strived to become high performing organisations in the ministry.<\/p>\n

Maj. Gen. Rakgantswana said with self-belief, trainees would change for the better, and thus urged them to embrace the opportunity to develop new perspectives, exchange ideas and discuss best practices to be able to create a ripple effect that would contribute to profound and lasting change.<\/p>\n
