{"id":42113,"date":"2024-01-19T17:57:12","date_gmt":"2024-01-19T17:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/?p=42113"},"modified":"2024-01-19T15:39:04","modified_gmt":"2024-01-19T15:39:04","slug":"dikoloti-encourages-residents-to-form-crime-prevention-clusters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/dikoloti-encourages-residents-to-form-crime-prevention-clusters","title":{"rendered":"DIKOLOTI ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO FORM CRIME PREVENTION CLUSTERS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>Crime prevention clusters can help residents fight crime in their localities.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Mmathethe\/Molapowabojang Member of Parliament Dr Edwin Dikoloti urged Lejwana residents during a kgotla meeting on Wednesday to form neighbourhood clusters commonly referred to as Ntebela Ke Go Lebele to fight crime, especially stock theft.<\/p>\n<p>He said such clusters were yielding positive results in other villages in the district.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Edwin Dikoloti, who is on a tour of his constituency briefed residents on what government achieved in the past five years, citing promoting and reviving agriculture as one of the many achievements that were attained.<\/p>\n<p>He said government promoted agriculture as a form of entrepreneurship that Batswana could pursue to earn a living.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Dikoloti commended Lejwana residents for having allowed for the drilling of a borehole in their village for purposes of watering their livestock.<\/p>\n<p>He said the borehole would benefit them in many ways such as selling its water to construction companies should such a need arise.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Dikoloti said since Lejwana depended heavily on the agricultural sector, he was among legislators that advocated for the introduction of a meat regulator, the Meat Industry Regulatory Authority.<\/p>\n<p>On another issue, the MP encouraged residents to familiarise themselves with the Temo Letlotlo programme, which he said encompassed different crops and not just the traditional crops of maize, beans and sorghum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI encourage you to also preserve and protect indigenous plant species from possible extinction and retain the knowledge of their use because if we don\u2019t we could be forced to buy them from elsewhere in future\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Village Development Committee treasurer Ms Lorato Tlhogwane complained about poor service delivery by Water Utilities Cooperation and Mmathethe Sub-land Board.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Kgosi Neo Letlhare said they were thankful for the many things that Dr Dikoloti had done for them especially with regard to encouraging food security in the area.<\/p>\n<p>He said many in the village had heeded the MP\u2019s call to plant fruit trees in their backyards.<\/p>\n<p>Kgosi Letlhare also appreciated Dr Dikoloti\u2019s initiative of introducing tutoring services at their school, saying that had improved the school\u2019s results.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\">Botswana<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana.
