Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Efforts are underway to replace broken windows and doors as well as to provide beds and mattresses at Lempu Junior Secondary School\u2019s boarding facility.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was said by Takatokwane Member of Parliament, Mr Tshoganetso Leuwe during kgotla meetings at Kaudwane and Sorilatholo on January 18.<\/p>\n

He said a delegation from the Ministry of Education and Skills Development had toured the school to appreciate its condition and that they recommended urgent attention.<\/p>\n

He said they promised that the procurement of mattresses would be done promptly and that a crew would be engaged to repair and replace broken windows and doors.<\/p>\n

He said he had toured the school to appreciate its condition and that he was pleased by the fact that boarding assistants had been engaged to stay with the pupils at all times, even at night.<\/p>\n

He said the shortage of beds and mattresses was due to the recent high intake, adding that it included pupils from Sesung, Metsibotlhoko and Serinane primary schools.<\/p>\n

He blamed vandalism for the broken windows and doors.<\/p>\n

MP Leuwe also acknowledged that Mphuthe Junior Secondary School boarding facilities were riddled with challenges, noting ablution leaks.<\/p>\n

He, however, said the ministry was working round the clock to address the problem.<\/p>\n

Briefing Letlhakeng District Council on Lempu boarding facilities recently, assistant district commissioner, Ms Oabona Kalwetse said the deficit of beds stood at 306 and mattresses at 522.<\/p>\n

She said broken windows and doors posed a security threat to boarding pupils.<\/p>\n
