Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>This year\u2019s financial budget will help tackle the unemployment crisis the country faces. <\/b><\/p>\n

This was said by Kgosi Chief Mosarwe of Monarch when responding to this year\u2019s 2024\/25 budget speech. Kgosi Mosarwe said 23.5% increase of this year\u2019s budget compared to the previous one will boost the economy and thus have money circulating among people.<\/p>\n

He said the youth, especially in Francistown, contributed in large numbers towards the unemployment rate and he hoped that this year\u2019s finances will help create jobs for the youth.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Francistown, mines can be re-opened as well as the BMC abattoir as a means of creating jobs for the youth\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Mosarwe said temporary and internship employees, especially those enrolled under government entities, could be hired since it is quite evident that there is a shortage of employees within these entities. \u201cLet\u2019s make education fashionable again, and avoid having our children excel in their studies only for them to come and join us at home,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Ms Pinkie Molebatsi, a resident of Bluetown in Francistown, expressed sincere gratitude towards this year\u2019s budget.<\/p>\n

Ms Molebatsi, who falls under the informal sector, said she was delighted with the sum of money set aside for those falling under the SMMEs, being a total of P200 million. She said the Chema Chema Fund aimed at transforming the informal sector would be of high benefit, as of late those under the informal sector have been receiving little to no attention from the government.<\/p>\n

She said with the youth mostly being unemployed, the informal sector acts as a means of employment for them, as that is where they mostly generate their income.<\/p>\n

Despite that Ms Molebatsi urged the government to create employment and hire people as the informal sector was congested and everyone engages in it as a means of survival.<\/p>\n

\u201cGraduates are now competing with us in our field of hustle, of which if our country was highly vested on development, such situations would not exist,\u201d Ms Molebatsi added.<\/p>\n
