Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Francistown\u2019s Setlalekgosi Junior Secondary School in the North East District has exceeded expectations by ranking first regionally and seventh nationally in the just released Junior certificate Examination (JCE) results.<\/b><\/p>\n

Setlalekgosi JSS achieved the highest regional pass rate at 67.5 per cent, surpassing the 2022 rate of 63.1 percent, with 5As and 35Bs.<\/p>\n

In an interview, Mr Terence Seitiso, the school head, attributed the achievement to the relentless efforts and determination of the school management and teachers in pursuing academic excellence.<\/p>\n

Mr Seitiso emphasized the collaboration and commitment of students, teachers, and parents, highlighting the active involvement of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) in supporting students\u2019 education both at school and at home.<\/p>\n

He also emphasised the discipline and focus of the students, noting their positive contribution to the school\u2019s success.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he acknowledged the supportive role of the community in shaping responsible and accountable students.<\/p>\n

Mr Seitiso further said that career guidance played a significant role in helping students remain focused on their academic journey and emphasised the need for students to be guided in determining the requirements for future job opportunities.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Mr Boy Olekantse, the Francistown Chief Education Officer, observed that the performance of female candidates continued to outperform male candidates.<\/p>\n

This, he said called for proper assessment to try and determine the cause and come up with means of filling such gap amongst learners especially boys<\/p>\n

.He also highlighted challenges in the Setswana subject.<\/p>\n

While impressed with the overall results, Mr Olekantse expressed a belief that there was room for further improvement.<\/p>\n

He also praised Setlalekgosi JSS for being the best performing school in the region.<\/p>\n
