Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The Reset Agenda is a national initiative meant to revitalise the economy and promote sustainable development. <\/b><\/p>\n

Addressing a kgotla meeting at Gerald Estate on February 16, Francistown mayor, Mr Godisang Radisigo said the Reset Agenda was a collective effort, and not the president\u2019s personal project.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage you to see the Reset Agenda as more than just a Presidential initiative, but as an opportunity for you to make positive changes in your lives,\u201d said Mr Radisigo.<\/p>\n

He said it was a shared responsibility and everyone should play their part in making it a success.<\/p>\n

The mayor also briefed residents on projects to be undertaken during the Transitional National Development Plan.<\/p>\n

Such projects include the ongoing construction of a primary school at Gerald Estate, refurbishment of Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital to the tune of P34 million and the envisaged new regional bus and taxi rank, among others.<\/p>\n

He mentioned maintenance of major infrastructure, installation of streetlights, and paving of internal roads was also being carried out.<\/p>\n

There will also be construction of the Special Support Group (SSG) camp of the Botswana Police Service with 150 staff houses, Mr Radisigo said and added that the projects would have a positive impact on the quality of life in the community, and that residents should take pride in such improvements.<\/p>\n

He urged everyone to work together to ensure success of the development plan.<\/p>\n

Mr Radisigo commended Gerald Estate police for their efforts in fighting crime, especially intrusive crime.<\/p>\n

He commended the new station commander for Gerald Estate Police Station, Superintendent Emely Kula for doing a good job.<\/p>\n

The cordial relationship between the police and the community has contributed to a reduction in crime rates and I urge all parties to continue working together to maintain this positive trend, Mr Radisigo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe future of Gerald Estate Police Station is looking bright under the leadership of Superintendent Kula,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Gerald Estate Court president, Kgosi Motlatsi Kediseng also praised Superintendent Kula for her efforts in combating crime in the area.<\/p>\n

He said the arrival of Superintendent Kula at Gerald Estate had seen a significant reduction in the number of cases of \u2018tomorrow over,\u2019 a local phrase for cases not resolved the following day.<\/p>\n

Previously, Kgosi Kediseng would have up to seven such cases each day, but the number had greatly reduced, a feat he attributed to the hard work and dedication of Superintendent Kula and her team.<\/p>\n

For their part, the residents commended government for the construction of a new primary school at Gerald Estate, but complained about exorbitant water bills, amongst other matters.<\/p>\n
