Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>As the close of nominations for the Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) elections nears, three names have emerged for the position of president.<\/p>\n

The volleyball congress is set for April 9. Tsoseletso \u2018Tsosi\u2019 Magang has thrown her name into the hat alongside vice president-technical, George Keotsene and Odirile \u2018Driller\u2019 Sibanda.<\/p>\n

However, word in the corridors is that the affiliates have vowed not to give any member of the current executive committee another term in office. Keotsene has served three terms and is seeking a fourth term. Moabi Tlampe, the current treasurer has also served over the same period but it is unclear if he will seek re-election.<\/p>\n

Vice president-administration, Ndibo Lebala has shown interest to retain his position for the second time. Additional member, Edgar Serole intends to swap roles and be vice president-technical if he is given a second chance in office. \u201cThe executive committee is aware that affiliates do not want them in office. So they have been waiting to see who is interested in contesting for elections hence the delay in elections.<\/p>\n

They have been testing the waters,\u201d a source said. Speaking to Mmegi Sport, Magang, who has served as president before, confirmed that she is interested in challenging for office. During her tenure, she was able to secure sponsorships from Mascom, Capital BMW and JB Sports. \u201cWe had sponsors during Magang\u2019s tenure but the current committee was not able to keep them.<\/p>\n

In the last elections, affiliates did not want Daniel Molaodi to serve but unfortunately, nobody was willing to challenge him,\u201d a source further said. According to the source, some of the clubs that are likely to nominate Magang are Kutlwano, BDF VI and Dynamites. According to a letter from the elections committee chairperson, Dineo Mogapi the closing date for the nominations is March 30. \u201cAll clubs should have affiliated to BVF by paying the affiliation fee.<\/p>\n

There should be a brief summary by the nominee of what he\/she is to offer volleyball if elected to the executive committee. There should be proof of qualifications for the position attached to the nomination where required,\u201d the letter reads in part. Meanwhile, this weekend volleyball action returns with some games to be played in Gaborone while others are at the Botswana Railways Recreational Club in Mahalapye.<\/p>\n

Mag Stimela women\u2019s side coach, Maboka Molefi said they are ready to welcome clubs to their courts. \u201cPreparations have been going well and everything is ready for the weekend,\u201d he said. Most clubs will be showing up with new faces after a busy transfer window with Peace Seleka now the Police VI men\u2019s team coach. \u201cPolice is a good team and almost everything is done professionally. My aim is to assist them to at least reach the semi-finals at the Africa Club Championships,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The former men\u2019s team coach, Thatayaone Ngwanaotsile has shifted to the women\u2019s side. Players who have joined Police are Tshiamo Chakalisa, Moitlamo Nkobedi, Kebame Gawahiwa, Pako Luke, Merapelo Tshimologo, Merapelo Sebako, Petunia Malibala and Game Rakgabo.<\/p>\n
