Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>African Games bound swimmers, Andile Bekker and Kyra Harry showed their class at the Botswana National Swimming Championship held at the University of Botswana over the weekend.<\/b><\/p>\n

The duo, together with Maxine Egner and Andrian Robinson, who were not at the championship, will represent Botswana at the African Games in Accra, Ghana next month.<\/p>\n

Both Bekker and Harry managed to win medals in their events, and they thanked the association for hosting the championship when they were preparing for the games.<\/p>\n

Bekker said the last time he competed in a long course was a year ago, and that he was happy that the competition gave him the opportunity to gauge his readiness.<\/p>\n

Bekker said he had been preparing well for the games and that he had been competing in challenging competitions.<\/p>\n

Harry also said the gala helped her to see whether she was posting the right times and how her body responded.<\/p>\n

She said her aim in Ghana was to focus on improving her personal best times and to win a medal for the country.<\/p>\n

During the competition, the 50 metres butterfly was won by Harry followed by Kimberly Ingwe while Naya Hughes settled for position three.<\/p>\n

Bekker won the 200 metres individual medley followed by Mmusi Matthews while Yusurf Garmroudi finished third.<\/p>\n

The 50 metres breaststroke was won by Matthews while Takundanashe Gondo and Khumo Newman settled for position three and four respectively.<\/p>\n

Melodi Saleshando won the 50 metres breaststroke followed by Matipaishe Gondo and position three went to Tatiro Muhomba of Bulawayo.<\/p>\n

Junior Keitsile won the 50 metres butterfly followed by Ntsika Mothibatsela while Khaya Vimba claimed position three. The men\u2019s 400 metres freestyle was won by Rayhan Khonat followed by Keitsile while Mothibatsela came third.<\/p>\n
