Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The AFC Leopards forward has earned fifth Rwanda national team call-up for upcoming Madagascar and Botswana friendlies.<\/b><\/p>\n

AFC Leopards have announced that their striker Arthur Gitego has been selected for the Rwanda national team squad, set to participate in a three-nation tournament in Antananarivo, Madagascar, during the upcoming international break.<\/p>\n

This marks the fifth time Gitego has received a call-up to represent his country, highlighting his growing importance to the national team and his club.Gitego, who transitioned to AFC Leopards in January from Rwandese side Marine FC, has quickly made his mark in the FK Premier League.<\/p>\n

With an impressive tally of four goals for the Leopards, including a hat-trick in the FKF Cup and a crucial goal in the league, the 20-year-old striker’s prowess on the field is undeniable.His upcoming participation comes after AFC Leopards’ crucial league match against Tusker FC on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“I am very happy for getting recognition and call-up from my national team. It\u2019s always a pleasure to represent my country. I thank my AFC Leopards family\u2014my teammates, and the coaching staff for helping me achieve this,” said Gitego.Rwanda is gearing up for the tournament against hosts Madagascar and Botswana, taking place from March 22nd to 25th.<\/p>\n

This tournament is seen as a crucial preparatory step for the Rwandan team, as they look to build momentum ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho in June. Rwanda’s Amavubi squad includes a mix of domestic and international talents, such as skipper Djihad Bizimana from Ukraine’s FC Kryvbas, and goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari of TS Galaxy, highlighting the depth and diversity of the team.<\/p>\n

Notable returnees for Rwanda include Muhadjiri Hakizimana of Police FC, Steve Rubanguka of Al Nojoom in Saudi Arabia, and Abeddy Biramahire of UD Songo in Mozambique.<\/p>\n
