Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli has revealed the CAF Champions League giants he wants to emulate in order to propel the Botswana side to greater heights in continental competition.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ramorebodi\u2019s belief stems from his troops surprising many by reaching the Champions League group stages. They held their own against some of the top teams in Africa, such as Orlando Pirates, Simba SC and Wydad AC.<\/p>\n

However, due to Galaxy\u2019s inexperience in the Champions League, they finished at the bottom of Group B with a single win and a draw in six matches. The group consisted of Simba, Wydad and ASEC Mimosas.<\/p>\n

In domestic football, the reigning Botswana Premier League champions started the 2023\/24 season on a good note, aiming to defend their title. Currently, they\u2019re at the summit on the log standings after collecting 41 points from 16 matches, with one game in hand.<\/p>\n

Ramoreboli now has even bigger ambitions. He wants to emulate Mamelodi Sundowns, the 2016 Champions League winners in an attempt to improve Galaxy\u2019s performances and results.<\/p>\n

MORENA RAMOREBOLI IS TRYING TO FOLLOW MAMELODI SUNDOWNS\u2019 WAY OF DOING THINGSSundowns have been one of the best teams in the continent always in the CL knockouts every season. Last campaign they came close to winning another CL trophy. However, they suffered a heartbreak in the semi-finals, losing against Moroccan giants Wydad AC on goal difference.<\/p>\n

In the SA top-flight, Masandawana have been a dominant force, winning six DStv Premiership titles in a row. In addition, Sundowns won the inaugural African Football League [AFL] title. Along the way to glory, they defeated big teams like Al Ahly and Wydad AC, with whom they compete for the Champions League title.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s be honest, our team has grown, if you look at what Mamelodi Sundowns is doing in South Africa. They will be in Africa for maybe two weeks, come back with games [in hand] and be back at number one [in the league],\u201d Ramoreboli told FARPost.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s exactly what Jwaneng Galaxy is trying to do. We can only get that if the players start to understand the importance of living a clean life and also focusing on their work.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we have grown as a team to the point that we try to prioritise because, after every two to three days, we have a match to play.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can only achieve bigger things if you have technical team players who are very focused on what they want to achieve. I think so far, so good for us. We\u2019ll give our all and fight until the last day.\u201d<\/p>\n
