Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has implored the Tefiso family to unite and continue the legacy of Ms Gertrude Tefiso, wife of Kgosi Moscow Tefiso of Sekoma. <\/b><\/p>\n

Ms Tefiso died March 10 after a long illness.<\/p>\n

Condoling with the family on March 16, Dr Masisi described the deceased as a unifier who was hardworking and reliable in all her roles as a parent and community builder.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven during her time of sickness we were hoping and praying for her recovery because she was a hardworking and diligent woman in all the roles she played.<\/p>\n

I therefore, urge you to work hard to close that gap for her legacy to live on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He further noted that the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) had suffered a huge blow since Ms Tefiso was its strong link, especially between Jwaneng and Sekoma communities.<\/p>\n

President Masisi said her passing was a challenge to party members, to work harder to reach the masses.<\/p>\n

However, he said even though the nation had lost a giant in Mme Tefiso, the family and the community should find comfort that she had made an impact in people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though this is a painful situation we find ourselves in, let us be comforted because she has done her part, she has raised many children in her community. Let us rely on prayer to strengthen us during this difficult time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A family representative, Ms Botsile Boraane said the family had suffered a great loss in Mme Tefiso, whom she said had been in and out of different hospitals.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though she had been sick for a long time, her illness intensified in June last year and she was between hospitals until she succumbed this past Sunday. We have suffered a great loss in this village because she was a parent to us all,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

Another family representative, Mr Mooketsa Bosigo appreciated the moral support from the President during such a challenging time for the royal family and the Sekoma community.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is commendable for you to show support and care to our family and many others who face similar predicaments across the country, despite your position as the head of state.<\/p>\n

This shows how people-oriented you are as a leader,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Bosigo also ceased the opportunity to request the President to advocate for developments for Sekoma in the spirit of neighbourliness.<\/p>\n

He said water shortage was a long-standing challenge for the village, adding that the little they got was salty.<\/p>\n

He also underscored the need for a bigger health facility to cater for the many accidents experienced along the Trans Kalahari Highway.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur village is situated at a junction of two busy roads, hence there is need for a bigger and better health facility to cater for the accidents that occur on these roads,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
