Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The high-level exchange visits between Botswana and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas will offer the two nations an opportunity to build on close ties and explore vast potential for further cooperation.<\/b><\/p>\n

These sentiments were shared by visiting Bahamian Prime Minister Mr Phillip Davis and President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi during a joint press briefing in Gaborone yesterday.<\/p>\n

The two leaders shared with members of the media the results of their engagements since Mr Davis\u2019 arrival yesterday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur engagement broadens our existing bilaterals and we were building on the foundations laid by our past leaders. We want to take further our cooperation on areas of education, vocational training, tourism, youth, gender and culture as well as financial services of the banking sector,\u201d said Dr Masisi.<\/p>\n

He said they also discussed issues around the political landscape, international order and governance, and added that Mr Davis would visit the Bank of Botswana as Bahamas was advanced in the financial sector.<\/p>\n

President Masisi said during his stay the Prime Minister would also visit the Diamond Trading Company. \u201cWe want you to see the opportunities and the challenges that come with diamonds, for instance the G7 matter and the threat it is to Botswana\u2019s diamond market, a severe threat that will revert Botswana\u2019s efforts in trading with the rough diamond as a primary product,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

President Masisi said they explored the geopolitical environment in the multilateral space, financial matters and governance.<\/p>\n

He said as like-minded individuals they were keen to bring about coalition that would mitigate some challenges and generate solutions that would become global solutions.<\/p>\n

Dr Masisi said during his visit to Bahamas in September, he was exposed to the opulence of nature and now it was his chance to expose Mr Davis to the jewel of the Kalahari, the Okavango delta.<\/p>\n

Mr Davis is set to visit the Xirega Safari Lodge in the Okavango Delta.<\/p>\n

Mr Davis said he was deeply impressed with the spirit of unity and cooperation that transcended between the two nations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI strongly believe in the power of connection. This invitation is a bridge between the two nations, a promise of mutual growth, motho ke motho ka batho, I am because we are.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bahamian Prime Minister said the Setswana adage resonated deeply with his nation\u2019s spirit.<\/p>\n

He said it was a philosophy that underpinned his delegation\u2019s visit to Botswana.<\/p>\n

The visiting leader praised Botswana for its shared value in his nation\u2019s sustainable development journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cOurs is a partnership that yearns to secure a brighter future and shared success of opportunities. It is a result of seeds of friendship sown,\u201d Mr Davis added.<\/p>\n

He said President Masisi\u2019s visit to Nassau, the capital of Bahamas, last year was the cornerstone of the bond.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s vast potential that lies in this partnership, our meetings have been very fruitful and we remain committed to assisting in every way possible. We are eager to explore other fields and cultivate a garden of prosperity,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
