Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Mindset Change has become a beacon that guides towards a future where challenges become opportunities, diversity celebrated and each individual playing a pivotal role in shaping a collective destiny, Bobirwa District Council chairperson says.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking during a full council meeting Monday, Mr Kgomotso Mmereki said it was against the aforementioned backdrop that he stirred both council political and administrative wings to work collectively towards delivery of the council mandate during their transition from a sub-district into a fully-fledged district council.<\/p>\n

Bobirwa District Council became a full district April 2023, breaking free from the then vast Central District Council.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we forge ahead, let the spirit of mindset change be our guiding force, ensuring that every decision we make and every initiative we undertake is rooted in the belief that change starts within and ripples outward, transforming not just our thoughts, but our reality,\u201d said Mr Mmereki.<\/p>\n

The chairperson, who found Bobirwa District Council not just a geographical location, but \u2018a thriving community fueled by a progressive mindset\u2019 encouraged all to walk the path of mindset change as they steered their ship to the transition.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether, let us celebrate the success of our collective journey towards a future defined by positive change and boundless potential,\u201d said Mr Mmereki.<\/p>\n

While celebrating a \u2018remarkable journey\u2019 that spanned almost a year now, the chairperson said that the transition was a pivotal moment in history that signified autonomy and opportunity for the district.<\/p>\n

Consequently, the said autonomy yielded remarkable strides in many aspects of the district, according to the chairperson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have successfully re-branded our District and we are working tirelessly towards delivery quality service to the communities we serve. I must also point out that community engagement has been a driving force behind our progress,\u201d said Mr Mmereki.<\/p>\n

While giving the state of the district ever since attaining autonomy April last year, Mr Mmereki said Bobirwa District Council had established platforms for open dialogue, encouraging the active participation of residents in decision-making processes. He explained that the inclusive approach ensured that the diverse voices of the district were heard and considered in the pursuit of the collective goal.<\/p>\n

However, the chairperson said that his district, like others, was facing some financial challenges that impacted on their ability to deliver essential services and invest in the wellbeing of their communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo address the deficit, we have sought audience with our parent ministry and we intend to adopt a multifaceted approach that combines prudent financial management with strategic planning,\u201d said Mr Mmereki, adding that the move involved reassessing budgetary priorities, identifying areas where efficiency could be enhanced, and exploring opportunities for revenue generation.<\/p>\n

Also, the chairperson said the council was mooting collaboration with local businesses and fostering partnerships with neighbouring districts as avenues intended to explore to supplement the council\u2019s financial resources.<\/p>\n

This journey, he said, required the active participation and support of all in order to build a more financially secure and prosperous future for the district.<\/p>\n
