Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The health facility project planned for implementation in the Transitional National Development Plan (TNDP) 2023-2025 in the Bobirwa constituency includes the upgrading of Bobonong Primary Hospital into a 73-bed facility.<\/b><\/p>\n

Answering a question in parliament on Wednesday, Assistant Minister of Health, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe said implementation of the project was planned for the 2024\/2025 financial year.<\/p>\n

He said the project would be submitted to the Ministry of Transport and Public Works to consider implementation through the Development Manager (DM) model, and added that the plot for the hospital had been secured while the design briefs had also been completed.<\/p>\n

Mr Lelatisitswe said the level 1 primary hospital in Tsetsebjwe and the upgrading of Borotsi Clinic were planned for in National Development Plan (NDP) 10, but could not be implemented due to budgetary constraints.<\/p>\n

He however said they would be considered in the upcoming National Development Plans, funds permitting.<\/p>\n

He said the ministry planned to upgrade all health posts to clinics in an effort to improve access to expanded healthcare services, adding that the exercise was being implemented in a phased manner due to budgetary limitations.<\/p>\n

The assistant minister said there were 25 registered mobile stops in Bobirwa constituency.<\/p>\n

He said the annual average number of mobile stops visited in 2023 was 21 with an average performance of 84 per cent.<\/p>\n

Bobonong Member of Parliament Mr Taolo Lucas had asked the minister to apprise Parliament on health facilities planned for the constituency in the current NDP namely a 70-bed primary hospital in Bobonong, level 1 primary hospital in Tsetsebjwe and Borotsi health post.<\/p>\n

He also wanted an update on the upgrading of all health posts to clinics as well as the number and functional mobile health stops in the Bobirwa constituency.<\/p>\n
