Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The GIMC Afro Tech presents 12 hours of entertainment as it celebrates five editions. The event dubbed GIMC Afro Tech 5.0 will be the first edition to have an extended schedule from 6pm until 6am.<\/b><\/p>\n

It will be held at GICC Marquee on Thursday (March 28). The event organiser, Fish Pabalinga said it has grown since its first edition on April 2022 and presents a suitable first party stop for the long holidays.<\/p>\n

“GIMC Afro Tech has grown a lot so the 5.0 will be bigger than others hence you see we have lined up some of the biggest artists in Afro Tech. Since it is a long holiday we are extending the hours from six until six. The event will be held in a safe environment at Grand Palm GICC. So people can book and stay in the hotel,” he said. The GIMC Afro Tech is headlined by one of the genre’s pioneers, Culoe de Song. The award winning DJ and producer makes a return to local shores after a five-year hiatus and will be making his debut appearance on the GIMC Afro Tech stage as he is scheduled for a 90 minutes set.<\/p>\n

Culoe de Song joins a legion of Afro Tech heavyweights such as Da Capo, Lemon and Herb, Enoo Napa, Caiiro and Black Motion who have graced the event in the previous four editions. Sun El Musician returns to the GIMC Afro Tech as the line up also features Africa Da Deep, DJ Teaz, Nurogroove, Hapex Guru, DJ Lexx, Bo Kettle and Raul Bryan. Pabalinga says the event presents a different type of fun while has positively impacted growth of Afro Tech in the country.<\/p>\n

“Afro Tech has grown in Botswana, there are quite a number of DJs who have switched to playing Afro Tech or now three step as they call it. We have played our part in trying to grow it because it cannot always be about AmaPiano. We have to provide variety. We cannot be in a capital city that has only one source of entertainment, we give another genres a chance to grow as well,” said Pabalinga.<\/p>\n

Tickets sell for P200 while a Golden Circle seat costs P800.<\/p>\n
