Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Some members of Ntlo ya Dikgosi have advised Kgosi Tjazako Munduu and Kgosi Gaetshabe Moepakgomo of Bothatogo in the North West region to remain dedicated to nation building. <\/b><\/p>\n

They advised them during a ceremony to present them to the community and celebrate Kgosi Munduu\u2019s elevation as headman of as well as Kgosi Moepakgomo\u2019s appointment as headman of arbitration.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Munduu, who is also a member of Ntlo ya Dikgosi, had been a headman of arbitration since 2007 and takes over the reigns after the death of Kgosi Gakebonwe Leduledi in August last year. Members Ntlo ya Dikgosi advised the duo to enhance their leadership qualities by keeping abreast with national issues.<\/p>\n

The members advised them to familiarise themselves with different Acts so that they could make informed decisions.<\/p>\n

The new leadership was also advised to play a critical role in building and uniting the community. Kgosi Oleyo Ledimo, who is the senior chief representative from Batawana authority, noted that Kgosi Munduu had been in the bogosi system for a long time having served as a member of Ntlo ya Dikgosi for 15 years.<\/p>\n

He expressed confidence that Kgosi Munduu would exercise his powers under the Bogosi Act to promote the welfare of the members of his tribe.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut you should understand that the new post comes with more responsibilities and the most important one is to promote welfare of the community as well as dispensation of justice. Now you are going to adjudicate cases and that requires fairness,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Ledimo also advised him to work with all village structures to fight social ills.<\/p>\n

He also urged the new leadership to conduct themselves in a professional manner to earn respect of their subordinates. Kgosi Mbao Kahiko of Charles Hill called on the dikgosi to put the community\u2019s interests first and ensure peace and tranquility rein in the village. In addition, he said they should be guided by cultural values and principles and also treat members of the community equally irrespective of their status.<\/p>\n

Kgosi Oateng Setlhodi of Chanoga advised the duo to guard against dividing the tribe, noting that their conduct could cause divisions amongst the community if they fail to do things in a transparent manner.<\/p>\n

He said the community had high expectations as far as developments in the village were concerned and urged them to work as a unit with all structures and the community to achieve that.<\/p>\n

He pleaded with the community to support their new chiefs in order for them to serve diligently.<\/p>\n

Ngami constituency area MP, Mr Caterpillar Hikuama welcomed the new leadership and gave credit to the government for speedily filling up some vacant bogosi posts in the region.<\/p>\n

The leadership was urged to work closely with their subjects, and treat them equally.<\/p>\n

Mr Hikuama also pleaded with residents to adhere to bogosi proceedings and demonstrate respect towards dikgosi.<\/p>\n

He noted that bogosi was the foundation and pillar of every tribe hence the need to give it the respect it deserves.<\/p>\n

For his part, Kgosi Munduu thanked all who graced the occasion and the tribe for entrusting them with a big responsibility of leading them. He urged the community to continue supporting them.<\/p>\n
