Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>First Lady Ms Neo Masisi joined mourners in Ramotswa Saturday morning for the funeral service of one of the two people who died when a bus caught fire in Gamodubu last week Thursday.<\/b><\/p>\n

The late Ms Mmina Nkwe and her age-mate and close friend Ms Jane Moitoi embarked on a sojourn to Maun last week but as fate would have it, the journey was cut short when the bus they were travelling in caught fire and burnt to ashes at around 1130pm at Gamodubu along the A12 road.<\/p>\n

The Late Nkwea\u0302\u20acTMs sister Ms Matlhomola Nyere said she learnt of the accident Friday afternoon after receiving a call from her brother.<\/p>\n

She said the family tried calling the deceaseda\u0302\u20acTMs phone which was not going through and that worried them.<\/p>\n

She said the family searched in local hospitals for her until the sad news were confirmed after DNA tests were completed with the results positively identifying her.<\/p>\n

The identity of the late Ms Nkwe was confirmed on Sunday, two days after her passing.<\/p>\n

Police reported that their preliminary investigations revealed that the bus carrying about 77 passengers from Gaborone to Maun caught fire and burnt to ashes.<\/p>\n

It was reported that 13 of the 15 passengers who sustained injuries were treated and discharged whilst two were in a stable condition in hospital.<\/p>\n

About 60 passengers escaped the inferno unhurt.<\/p>\n

Mourners who spoke at her send off described Ms Nkwe as a likeable character who had devoted her life to serving the church of Christ.<\/p>\n

Gamalete Paramount Chief Kgosi Mosadi Seboko said Ms Nkwe, a devoted teacher from her formative years had run a good race and completed her course.<\/p>\n

She urged her siblings and children to gather the courage to accept her loss but gain solace from the fact that their late mother, sister and grandmother was a loving character who devoted her time to the word of God.<\/p>\n

Several mourners spoke warmly of the late Ausi Mmina as Ms Nkwe was fondly called by those close to her.<\/p>\n

They all believed that what separated the deceased from them was her fear of God.<\/p>\n

The late Ms Nkwe,who died five months shy of her 60th birthday was born in Madisakwana ward.<\/p>\n

She is survived by two sons, a granddaughter and four siblings.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Ms Moitoi was also buried in Tlokweng on Saturday.<\/p>\n
