Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Mmadinare MP, Mr Molebatsi Molebatsi recently performed the ground breaking ceremony for a three-roomed police office at Robelela.<\/b><\/p>\n

The project, sponsored to the tune of P130 000 by the Ministry of Health and Wellness in partnership with Ark and Mark Trust, is spearheaded by 10 participants who took part in a Ark Adventures Recovery Programme.<\/p>\n

The programme offers counselling and therapeutic sessions to participants to help them change their lives for the better.<\/p>\n

Mr Molebatsi thanked the Ark and Mark Trust for choosing Robelela to roll out the programme.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health and Wellness in partnership with Ark and Mark Trust has embarked on a campaign to promote projects and activities designed to combat substance abuse and addiction.<\/p>\n

The two organisations have targeted individuals, families and communities challenged with substance use in Bobirwa District, particularly in the Moletemane, Tobane, Motlhabaneng and Robelela with the goal to help them regain control over their lives.<\/p>\n

Mr Molebatsi commended the recovery programme for building a better Botswana, adding that the community project that the beneficiaries embarked on signified a new beginning in their journey of life.<\/p>\n

He also urged them to continue making strides towards achieving their personal goals.<\/p>\n

The MP pleaded with residents to support the project and the beneficiaries so that they did not lapse.<\/p>\n

Ark and Mark Trust therapist, Ms Thelma Molombo also thanked residents and other stakeholders for supporting the organisation in promoting a drug free community.<\/p>\n

She said the main goal of the trust was to initiate, explore and test solutions for psycho-social and emotional problems troubling children, young people and their families. She said Ark and Mark Trust was a reputable organisation that partnered with governments as well as international organisations to deliver therapy services to traumatised and vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe offer counselling to orphaned children and training to social workers to capacitate them to deal with issues of trauma and other societal problems,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

For his part, Selebi Phikwe Police Station Commander, Superintendent Elias Malope thanked the beneficiaries for choosing the project, saying it would help the police deal with crime in Robelela.<\/p>\n

He also emphasised that the project would strengthen the relationship between the police and the community.<\/p>\n

He urged the community to work with the police to minimise crime in the area.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Malope also said the project came at the right time when they had introduced a child protection unit, adding that the new offices would help promote confidentiality considering the sensitivity of issues affecting children.<\/p>\n

He commended participants for engaging in the programme, saying it would help them change their lives for the better.<\/p>\n
