Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>In a solemn ceremony held at Maun Kgotla on April 4, community members came together to pay tribute to the 45 individuals who tragically lost their lives in a bus accident in South Africa during the Easter Holidays.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Kgotla was transformed into a place of mourning and remembrance as families, friends, and community members gathered to honour the memory of those who perished in the accident. Prayers were offered for the souls of the deceased, and words of comfort and support were shared among the grieving community.<\/p>\n

The Assistant Priest of Maun branch St Engenas Zion Christian Church, Professor Mooketsi Motsholapheko expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and emphasised the need for unity and solidarity in the face of tragedy.<\/p>\n

He called on the community to come together to support one another and to honour the memory of those who died.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank the Maun community together with Ngamiland leadership for the support and encouragement they have shown us today as well as the prayers of our Christian community that strengthen a broken heart,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Amongst those at the memorial service was Ms Magdalene Kabo, who lost nine of her relatives. She shared that even her neighbours and close friends had lost family members.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn my father\u2019s side three men and their wives lost their lives, my brother-in-law lost his brother and wife, our neighbours lost five family members and the other neighbour lost her husband and her child who was doing Form five,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The memorial service concluded with a moment of silence as the community stood together in quiet reflection.<\/p>\n
