Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Abel Ntsimako of Moshupa earns his living by designing neck pieces and bead work. Following the recent introduction of the Chema Chema Fund, Ntsimako was among the first to apply for the opportunity to expand his business.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to BOPA during the Hika la Ngwanyana Cultural Festival in Moshupa on Saturday, an event which was intended to revive Bakgatla-ba-ga-Mmanaana culture, Ntsimako shared that his bead work business began in 2016.<\/p>\n

He explained that his business was in need of a boost therefore he saw the government initiative as the perfect opportunity to expand and explore larger markets.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have already registered at the office of the Member of Parliament and the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) in Moshupa. This is indeed a great opportunity for small and medium enterprises,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old\u2019s talent is undeniable. His range include women\u2019s neck pieces made of beads, as well as bracelets, and earrings.<\/p>\n

His products attract attention, with many people stopping by his stall at the festival to admire and buy his creations.<\/p>\n

One woman exclaimed: \u2018wow, you\u2019re a man and able to create such beautiful items for women! This is amazing!\u2019<\/p>\n

Impressed by the bead work, she quickly purchased a red neck piece, which she wore proudly, mentioning how well it complemented her military gear.<\/p>\n

In addition to beads, Ntsimako utilises recycled paper, particularly from chewing gum wrappers.<\/p>\n

He believes that using recycled materials supports sustainability efforts and protects the environment for future generations, an initiative the government strongly encourages, to combat pollution.<\/p>\n

Ntsimako also said his crafted necklaces and earrings from beads do not only cater for women but he also received orders from men.<\/p>\n

His message to the youth is clear: \u2018i encourage them to access the Chema Chema Fund\u2019.<\/p>\n

He expressed gratitude towards the government, especially President Mokgweetsi Masisi, for launching such an initiative to help young entrepreneurs expand their businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s our time, the youth, to do something worthwhile instead of aimlessly wandering. Let\u2019s seize the opportunities provided by Chema Chema to better ourselves and contribute to the economy,\u201d Ntsimako said, urging the youth to embrace this initiative and help stimulate economic growth.<\/p>\n

He expressed gratitude to his mother, who taught him to bead when he was young.<\/p>\n

Although he was initially hesitant, he soon recognised its potential as a business that could lead him to international success.<\/p>\n

To sustain his business, he continually innovates, creating new designs to attract more customers.<\/p>\n
