Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Public service employees must embrace one government approach as a solution to deliver services efficiently, Minister of Trade and Industry, Mmusi Kgafela has said.<\/b><\/p>\n

Officiating at fifth Kgatleng Taking Services to People event held in Leshibitse recently, Mr Kgafela said one government approach required departments across the public service to work closely in their quest for quality public service delivery rather than working in silos.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur culture should be of people first, and the tendency of subjecting our clients to move from one department to another is unacceptable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Kgafela therefore, encouraged service providers to take it upon themselves to source for clients fundamental documents from other departments instead of making clients run around for such.<\/p>\n

In that way, he said service providers would be impactful in delivering sustainable and quality service. He also condemned fronting of businesses to foreigners thus aiding them to partake in business activities reserved for citizens.<\/p>\n

Such self-inflicted regression, he said resulted in business being foreign dominated including those reserved for citizens.<\/p>\n

\u201cI call upon everyone here in Leshibitse to strongly condemn fronting,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kgatleng District Commissioner, Ms Kolobetso Sejakgomo said the initiative was intended to meet communities halfway in delivery of services that were far from their areas.<\/p>\n

She said the initiative yielded positive results and improved access to service provided by government, parastatals and private entities.<\/p>\n

She said the idea to take services to the people was meant to appreciate customers and fill gaps in delivery of services as well as to find ways of providing better service to rural communities.<\/p>\n

Ms Sejakgomo commended services providers for making the event a success amidst tight government budget, adding it was pleasing that the activity continued to evolve despite no budget for it. Councillor for Mosomane, Mr Tshepo Ruele thanked event organisers for taking services to Leshibitse.<\/p>\n

He said village highly relied on services from Central District because of its proximity to Dibete.<\/p>\n

He said residents in Leshibitse and surrounding settlements were mostly assisted in Mahalapye, and therefore taking services to them was a welcome development.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important that critical departments are visible during this exciting times when flagship programmes such as Chema Chema, Thuo Letlotlo and Temo Letlotlo are being introduced.<\/p>\n
