Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Tutume District Council has secured funds to construct a fire station in Nata.<\/b><\/p>\n

Briefing a kgotla meeting addressed by Member of Parliament for Nata\/Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga recently in Maposa, Tutume District Council Secretary, Mr Joseph Banyatsang disclosed that the council had secured P5.2 million for construction of the fire station.<\/p>\n

Mr Banyatsang highlighted that the district, particularly areas around Nata, had seen fire outbreaks and being serviced from Sowa Town and Tutume proved to be a challenge because of the distance.<\/p>\n

He said bringing the fire station to Nata was meant to bring the service closer to the people and save properties and goods often destroyed by fire before firefighters reach the affected places.<\/p>\n

He stated that though the council would be setting up the station, its operation would be outsourced to a private company.<\/p>\n

He explained that this was meant to ensure improved service delivery while at the same time creating job opportunities for Batswana.<\/p>\n

Mr Banyatsang pointed out that the project would be carried out during the current financial year together with two others, being full maintenance of Maposa and Nata Rural Area Dwellers hostels which will cost P600 000 and P1.8 million pula respectively.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Mr Majaga pointed out that national budget had been allocated and projects would commence at the beginning of May.<\/p>\n

Amongst such projects, Mr Majaga mentioned construction of A3 road from Francistown to Maun which will be done in phases.<\/p>\n

Regarding Constituency Community Projects (CCP) the MP said a tower light worth P330 000 would be installed in Maposa this year.<\/p>\n

Welcoming the MP\u2019s delegation, Kgosi Sibangani Maposa appreciated the opening of hunting season since it helped generate revenue used to develop the village.<\/p>\n

He advised people to be vigilant of wild animals during this period as they will be coming within the village territory seeking refuge from hunters.<\/p>\n
