Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Bakwena Cultural Village in Molepelole is set to come to life during the upcoming Good Friday and Easter holidays when the Botswana Rastafarian Family converges at the village to celebrate the movement.<\/p>\n

The Rastafari will from April 15 to18 celebrate their culture and lifestyle, as well as showcase products, music, food, fashion, and arts and crafts from their community.<\/p>\n

According to one of the event organisers, Joel Mosimanyana aka Spitz Phoenix, the event will start with the arrival of attendants on Friday for a camp, with other activities set to commence the next day. On Saturday, there will be a Family Fun Day with activities including jumping castles and face painting for children from 12pm until 6pm. Then, the Roots and Culture Festival will commence from 6pm until 6am on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Sunday, we’ll have a workshop to consolidate what has transpired and make plans for the next event simultaneously,\u201d Mosimanyana said.<\/p>\n

He stated that the intention is to turn it into an annual event. He said that they found it fit to host this event as it has been a very long time since they gathered in this manner, adding that this is also an opportunity for the Rastafarians to celebrate life as COVID-19 infections subside. Although the event is a gathering of the Rastafari community, the organisers highlighted that it is open to the general public as well.<\/p>\n

Mosimanyana urged the public to come in numbers and support their event and interact with the Rastafari community. He explained that revellers will be treated to a bit of Afro beat, reggae and dancehall and live performances by Chalice from Serowe and Ras Logic of \u2018Mmaabo o thaile bomo\u2019 fame.<\/p>\n

The artists line-up for the Roots and Culture Festival comprises Twingi Twanga, former My Star contestant Sister Eunice, Baba Black, Chilli Man the Ragga Man, Hi Nation, DJ Spitz Phoenix, DJ Tachy Scott and Selekta Shattah Man, while Phomolo Isis Masega and Nendiyo will be the MCs for the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cBatswana must come and witness how the Rastas chill out. There shall be food and good music. Bring your own camp chairs and cooler boxes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the event cost P100 for adults and P50 for children while cooler boxes will attract a P30 charge. Along with the Rastafarian Community of Botswana, the event is organised by Phoenix Entertainment, Samoki Cunningham of Phatsima Jewellery and Baba Black of the Reggae Shop.<\/p>\n
