Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Three \u2018powerful\u2019 agents of Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) who have fallen out with the agency following numerous arrests now say they fear being re-arrested and detained again pending their interdict application.<\/b><\/p>\n

Yesterday the top agents, Pulane Kgoadi, Paul Setlhabi and Kuda Malikongwa appeared before Lobatse High Court judge, Justice Boipuso Makhwe after filing an urgent application against Commissioner of Police, DIS Director general (DG) Peter Magosi and the spy unit seeking court protection for the alleged harassment.<\/p>\n

Though the main application could not be argued because the defendants\u2019 senior attorney Parks Tafa indicated that they were served with court documents late yesterday and needed time to file their response, the trio said their liberty was hanging in balance and needed assurance that no arrest will be carried out.<\/p>\n

The trio\u2019s attorney Kgosietsile Ngakaagae requested an order for protection pending their application.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the meantime, I do not want my clients to attend court coming from jail. There should be an order that no arrest and detention should be carried out until we return to court on the said date,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n

Following a back and forth between the two attorneys there was an agreement for a court settlement.<\/p>\n

The agreement was that though Tafa claimed that his clients were not aware of any planned arrests, they shall give 48 hours\u2019 notice to the agents\u2019 attorney if there is any decision to that effect.<\/p>\n
