Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Okavango District councilors have appreciated progress of Gumare-Sepopa and Sepopa-Mohembo awarded to Bango Trading Company and Rockerfeller Civil Engineering respectively. <\/b><\/p>\n

Giving an update of the projects during the opening of the Okavango District Council meeting on Monday, chairperson, Mr Gaopalelwe Ronald said that the cold recycling, shoulder construction and asphalt overlay of Gumare-Sepopa stretch by Bango Trading company and Sepopa-Mohembo by Rockerfeller Civil Engineering which were awarded over P345 million and over P260 million respectively were ongoing.<\/p>\n

He noted that the two projects encompassed upgrading of Etsha 1, Etsha 6, Etsha 13 and Kajaja roads.<\/p>\n

Mr Ronald said that the project also included reconstruction of Etsha 6, Etsha 13, Ikoga, Sepopa, Samuchima, Shakawe Police and Shakawe airstrip access roads.<\/p>\n

He said the design review of Mohembo-Gudigwa road was ongoing while the planned reconstruction of the A3 road was also ongoing and all the projects were supervised by the Development Manager Model.<\/p>\n

He observed that the District Roads Division was awarded P4 million for gravelling of internal roads within the district which were ongoing at different stages.<\/p>\n

Mr Ronald further said that Mohembo-Gudigwa road grading and spot improvement was currently done in house and only about 60 per cent of the project was left and anticipated to be completed this month.<\/p>\n

Nominated councillor, Ms Ikakanyeng Nkape said the road maintenance was a welcome development that would help improve the lives of the people of Okavango and attract investors.<\/p>\n

Another nominated councillor, Mr Molathegi Moyei said that Mohembo-Gudigwa project was slow and that the part between Beetsha-Gudigwa had not been maintained in the past five years.<\/p>\n

Kauxwi\/Xakao councillor, Mr Television France queried the bad state of Mohembo-Gudigwa road and noted that there was a culvert which needed to be attended to in Kauxwi.<\/p>\n
