Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi departs to Las Vegas, USA for the JCK Show scheduled to take place from May 30 to June 3.<\/b><\/p>\n

Subsequent to the JCK engagement, President Masisi will participate in the Korea-Africa Summit to be held in Seoul, Korea, on June 4-5.<\/p>\n

A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the JCK Show is considered the world\u2019s largest jewellery trade event.<\/p>\n

It further says the show brings together the global jewellery trade community, comprising manufacturers, suppliers, designers and buyers to participate in exhibitions, network and advance their businesses annually.<\/p>\n

It says President Masisi will lead Botswana delegation that will debut the House of Botswana diamond initiative, which promotes the country as a leading producer of ethically and responsibly sourced diamonds, as well as, the diamond capital of the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Botswana Pavilion will showcase the country\u2019s exceptional diamonds, including rough diamonds, polished Okavango Blue diamond, and jewellery crafted with Botswana diamonds,\u201d says the press release.<\/p>\n

It also says President Masisi\u2019s participation at the jewellery trade event will provide the opportunity to amplify Botswana\u2019s Diamonds for Development Story, which underscores the role that diamonds play in the economy and development of the country.<\/p>\n

Further, the event will present Botswana with a platform to reiterate the adverse impact the G7 countries\u2019 new diamond traceability and certification scheme will have on the country\u2019s diamond industry and development agenda.<\/p>\n

On the Korea-Africa Summit, the release says the meeting aims to enhance cooperation between Korea and Africa in various sectors such as infrastructure, trade and investment, digital technologies and e-government.<\/p>\n

President Masisi will also hold bilateral talks with President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol and engage Korean companies that lead in the digital technologies field.<\/p>\n

The media release says Botswana and Korea enjoy long-standing diplomatic relations which were established in 1968.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe two countries cooperate in a number of areas, including water resource management, capacity building, and infrastructure development projects such as the construction of the Kazungula Bridge,\u201d it says.<\/p>\n

President Masisi will be accompanied by First Lady Neo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Lemogang Kwape, Minister of Lands and Water Affairs, Dr Kefentse Mzwinila, Minister of Minerals and Energy, Mr Lefoko Moagi, Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Mmusi Kgafela and senior government officials. The President and his delegation returns on June 7.<\/p>\n
