Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>TraveLodge Hotels is contributing to the livelihoods of many Batswana.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was said by the Hospitality and Business Development Group chief executive officer, Mr Justin Jose, when giving an update on the group\u2019s recent developments at the newly opened Oasis Motel recently.<\/p>\n

Mr Jose told attendees, who included clients from various sectors, that they had invested P174 million to renovate Oasis Motel, a project that he said had created 357 jobs at the motel and in turn addressing the critical issue of unemployment in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cOut of this, we have employed 196 women, demonstrating our commitment to women empowerment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Jose emphasised the significance of hosting clients at the newly renovated Oasis Motel, which he said aimed to offer them direct experience of the state-of-the-art facilities, which included a shopping mall.<\/p>\n

The gathering learnt that the Oasis Motel was an iconic establishment in Botswana since 1979 and had rich history of hosting numerous tourists and locals while its swimming pool was particularly popular in the 1980s, frequented by children from Gaborone. The event included Travel Lodge management from Kasane, Ghanzi and Gaborone, providing them with firsthand experience of the renovated motel, which reopened two weeks ago after renovations which began in 2022.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Mr Jose said the company was dedicated to community engagement, having partnered with local farmers through a collaboration with Trans Africa Company and established a clinic in Gasita.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have many more projects in the pipeline to support the community in Botswana,\u201d he added. Reflecting on the history of TraveLodge, Mr Jose mentioned that the vision began in Francistown in 1990, with subsequent expansions including Mokoro Lodge in Maun and TraveLodge Gaborone in 2012.<\/p>\n

The company also opened Room 52 Hotel and TraveLodge Kasane in 2017 and acquired Kalahari Arms in Ghanzi in 2018.<\/p>\n

The Ghanzi facility, he said was currently undergoing construction to add new rooms.<\/p>\n

Mr Jose thanked all attendees, saying their presence signified the company\u2019s appreciation and joy in sharing their progress.<\/p>\n
