Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>The BTC Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme which is run through the BTC Foundation has constructed a shelter for Princess Marina Hospital (PMH). The shelter will be utilised by the Hospital\u2019s patients and visitors. Speaking at the official hand over ceremony, the Acting Princess Marina Hospital Superintendent Dr Monkgogi Goepamang, who received the structure on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, stated that the waiting room will without doubt enhance the customer experience and provide a psychological healing to patients.<\/b><\/p>\n

Dr Goepamang stated that the BTC Foundation constructed the shelter or waiting room at a total value of Three Hundred and Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Forty Pula (P304, 604.00). He added that the waiting area is equipped with 28 benches, a television and sound system set for entertainment and a internet connectivity of 10 mbps for a period of one year.<\/p>\n

He applauded BTC for being a responsible corporate citizen who heeded the national call for assistance when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country. He added that BTC donated P2 million cash to the Covid-19 National Relief Fund and hosted for free a Covid-19 toll free number (16649) on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Wellness that allowed for free calls amongst other Covid-19 related donations by the telecommunications company.<\/p>\n

Handing over the shelter, BTC Managing Director Mr Anthony Masunga commended the health facility and Princess Marina Hospital for their role in preserving Batswana and keeping them healthy. He stated that digital and health services continue to partner through initiatives such as e-health to bring services closer to the people. Mr. Masunga reiterated the statement by adding that \u201cBTC Foundation has made a strong commitment to become a trusted partner to communities by investing in projects that are sustainable, impactful and improve the well-being of societies\u201d.<\/p>\n
