Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi will give a keynote address at the on-going UCCSA denominational conference in Moshupa.<\/b><\/p>\n

In an interview yesterday, secretary of Moeding Region of the church, Ms Phemo Gadiutlwe said President Masisi\u2019s presence at the church was significant given Botswana\u2019s relationship with the countries whose citizens would be in attendance.<\/p>\n

Also, she said explained that the decision to have him as guest of honour was informed by him being a UCCSA member as well as the conference being held in his home village.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond his position as President of the country, he is a member of the UCCSA. Now with the conference being held in his own backyard, and with citizens of other countries being in attendance, it is fitting that he be the one delivering the keynote address,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said with the conference bringing together members from across seven Southern African countries of Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia and Zambia, it was befitting that the President of the host country be the one to deliver a keynote address.<\/p>\n

This, she said was not only significant to the church itself but to the countries whose citizens were in attendance.<\/p>\n

Ms Gadiutlwe said the objective of the conference was to among others promote and foster the spirit of brotherhood among members from the different countries as well as to encourage members to remain rooted in their spiritual journey.<\/p>\n

In terms of attendance at the conference, she said about 2 500 members were in attendance, but that some countries had sent fewer representatives due to the small size of their respective congregations.<\/p>\n

Ms Gadiutlwe said the denominational conference was held every four years, and that the previous one was hosted by Zimbabwe in 2019.<\/p>\n

The conference will feature addresses by its local and regional leaders.<\/p>\n
