Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>His Excellency President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi is set to officially hand over nine houses to the Tshimoyapula community.<\/b><\/p>\n

In an interview with BOPA on Tuesday, Serowe District Commissioner Ms Angelinah Leano-Bakoko reported that preparations for the event were proceeding smoothly, with the President expected to tour the newly constructed homes on the day.<\/p>\n

Eight of the houses were built through an initiative led by the Tshimoyapula Extension Team (VET), spearheaded by Botswana Police Service\u2019s Sergeant Stephen Pule.<\/p>\n

The ninth house was constructed by a businessman and philanthropist Mr Fankie Kokoro of Kokoro Feedlot.<\/p>\n

Ms Leano-Bakoko highlighted that the project arose from a desire to enhance the quality of life for residents in the area. She commended the initiative for embodying the spirit of self-reliance and expressed hope that other villages would take inspiration from Tshimoyapula to promote local services and developments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe VET members contributed financially to ensure the project\u2019s success, which deserves recognition,\u201d stated Ms Leano-Bakoko. She noted that some of the residents donated their labour to support the construction efforts.<\/p>\n

After realising the VET\u2019s outstanding work, the district commissioner reached out to other government departments for assistance with the project\u2019s final touches, which resulted in the mobilisation of approximately P18 000.<\/p>\n

The funds were allocated among the village\u2019s eight wards, allowing for the construction of houses for those in need, identified with the help of social and community development officers.<\/p>\n

In total, five of the houses constructed through the VET initiative are one-roomed, two are bachelor pads, and the remaining house is a two-and-a-half-bedroom unit tailored for a recipient with disability.<\/p>\n

Ms Leano-Bakoko commended the energy brought by new VET members and that the entire public service could align itself with their proactive approach.<\/p>\n
