Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Reconstruction of the 200-kilometre Francistown-Nata A3 Road has started and progressing well under the Development Manager (DM), Okavango Africa Consortium.<\/b><\/p>\n

Briefing during a media tour on Friday, the DM team leader Mr Moemedi Gabana explained that the project would be divided into teams, which would be tackling different sections of the project.<\/p>\n

Mr Gabana said to date, two camps had been established two camps; one in Mathangwane and the other in Mosetse.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that there would be another camp at Nata, which would be responsible for work from the base going towards the areas of Mosetse while those at Mosetse would be working towards Sebina junction.<\/p>\n

Mr Gabana highlighted that the Francistown side team had cleared the area for detour road and setting out had been done for the actual construction to commence.<\/p>\n

He noted that the design, which was done in the shortest turnaround time of about eight months, showed that there would be a flyover at the current Orapa junction upon the completion of the project to ease traffic flow.<\/p>\n

Prior to the design of the new road, which will be a dual carriage way, he pointed out that a traffic study was done to analyse the movement of traffic along the current road and the outcome showed that there was need to facilitate movement of traffic, particularly during peak hours.<\/p>\n

He added that although they had proposed to government to have dual carriage way done from Francistown up to Sebina junction, that was impossible due to budget constraints, hence the dual carriage would end just after Mathangwane.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Mr Gabana said although the road from Mathangwane would not be a dual carriage way, it would still be wide with shoulders to allow for a smooth drive.<\/p>\n
