Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Gaborone University College of Law and Professional Studies (GUC) has awarded the reigning Miss Botswana queen, Palesa Molefe a P100,000 worth of scholarship to study for any degree course of her choice at the institution.<\/b><\/p>\n

On top of the scholarship, Molefe has also been given an additional P10,000 cash gift by the institution. The managing director of GUC, Antoney Joseph presented the institution\u2019s gifts to Molefe on Wednesday as a token of appreciation for what \u2018Mmampale\u2019 as Molefe is affectionately known, has done by representing Botswana at the recently held Miss World pageant. \u201cToday we are celebrating our very own Miss Botswana, Palesa Molefe, who has not only captured the hearts of Batswana but many across the globe with her radiant smile, natural beauty, and intellectual certainty,\u201d Joseph said. \u201cAs a token of appreciation from GUC, we wish to award Molefe with a P100,000 scholarship for any degree program of her choice, with a P10,000 cash prize,\u201d he added. Joseph further urged Molefe to take the opportunity seriously as the pressures of the arts industry and other social activities all have the potential to divert her potential to become a future leader for the nation. He advised Molefe to take time and appropriately hone her skills and knowledge to further her positive impact on the nation at large.<\/p>\n

Jubilantly accepting her tokens of appreciation, Molefe stated that she intends to fulfill her duties as Miss Botswana prior to furthering her education. \u201cTo empower and nurture a girl-child is to empower the world. I believe so fully in that concept; thank you [GUC] for leading by example,\u201d Molefe said in her acceptance speech. \u201cNot only is this a kind gesture, but this is really playing your part in empowering and informing young women like me to navigate the world and I appreciate that wholeheartedly.<\/p>\n

I will take heed of this; I will take it seriously and allocate the time to further my education. Currently my duties are Miss Botswana, but when I do get the time I will take full advantage of this generous opportunity. I don\u2019t take this for granted, not for a second,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The token of appreciation for Molefe falls in line with GUC\u2019s continued efforts to support the arts industry after the university provided the top three competitors of Miss Cross Country 2022 with three scholarships to study for any certificate program of their choice at the institute. GUC provides Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) accredited programmes in law, education, health, engineering, and management at certificate, diploma, Bachelor\u2019s degree, and Masters degree levels that both Molefe and another recently crowned Miss Cross Country 2022 winners will be able to benefit from.<\/p>\n

For the duration of her reign, Molefe has received free housing, car, jewelry, luxury fragrances, clothing, makeup services, spa treatments, physiotherapy, dental services, a free gym membership, and thousands of pula in cash gifts cementing her as one of the most appreciated Miss Botswana queen in history. Molefe’s participation at the Miss World pageant had attracted high public attention, with the nation heavily expectant of her to bring home the crown. However, the queen failed to make the top 12 cut, leaving the nation in disappointment when she revealed that she had wardrobe malfunction.<\/p>\n
