Commitment to youth empowerment<\/p>\n

This announcement marked the company\u2019s official entry into Botswana\u2019s gambling market and underscored its commitment to youth empowerment and economic growth.<\/p>\n

The beneficiaries are Gloria Majaga and Edwin Masuge, both 2020 Tokyo Paralympians; Collen Kebinatshipi, a silver medalist in the 4x400m relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics; and Chedza Julius, the 2024 University of Botswana Valedictorian.<\/p>\n

Shareholding in Betway<\/p>\n

These young leaders will receive shareholding in Betway\u2019s local entity, Delta Bay, providing them with a direct stake in Botswana\u2019s burgeoning gambling industry.<\/p>\n

Said Betway\u2019s Director of New Markets, Anthony Prissman: \u201cThis partnership underscores Betway\u2019s commitment to empowering young Batswana by offering them a sustainable vehicle to succeed.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Professor Goemeone Mogomotsi, applauded Betway\u2019s initiative as a step forward for Botswana\u2019s Vision 2036, which emphasises inclusive growth and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Vision for economic empowerment<\/p>\n

\u201cEfforts like these align with President Duma Gideon Boko\u2019s vision for economic empowerment,\u201d he said. \u201cThis initiative will inspire Batswana to explore the vast potential of the gambling industry, equipping them with knowledge to become leaders and innovators.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CEO of the Gambling Authority of Botswana, Peter Kesitilwe, praised Betway for its commitment to responsible gaming and citizen empowerment, which are key pillars of the Gambling Act of 2012.<\/p>\n

\u201cBetway has exceeded our expectations by prioritising support for marginalised groups such as youth, women, and persons with disabilities,\u201d he noted. \u201cThis partnership is an excellent example of what can be achieved when businesses align with government objectives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Part of Super Group<\/p>\n

Betway\u2019s local operations are part of Super Group, a global digital entertainment company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The group operates Betway, a premier online sports betting brand, and Spin, a multi-brand online casino platform.<\/p>\n

With a presence in over 20 jurisdictions, Super Group aims to bring first-class betting experiences to new markets like Botswana.<\/p>\n

Betway received its local betting licence in October, and its entry into the market comes with significant expectations. Beyond generating revenue, the company aims to transform lives through initiatives like Delta Cares, which focuses on creating opportunities for marginalised groups.<\/p>\n
