Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Boxing enthusiasts are expecting some thrilling contests today at the 2024 National Boxing Championships semifinals at the University of Botswana Indoor Sports Centre.<\/b><\/p>\n

Organised by Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA), the semifinals which starts at 12 hrs noon features a total of 18 bouts, 16 men’s category fights and two in the women’s category.<\/p>\n

All eyes will be on Prisons Boxing Club’s Mmusi Tswiige, the light middleweight (71 kilograms) division champion from last season’s tournament. He will be competing this time around in the middleweight (75kg) division, where his opponent is Atang Kelapile of Diamond Trading Company (DTCB) Boxing Club.<\/p>\n

Another interesting fight will be the featherweight (57kg) division matchup between Police Boxing Club’s George Molwantwa and Mmoloki Sekwaipe of Eastern Military Garrison (EMG) Boxing Club. Sekwaipe will be looking to win the competition for the second year in a row while Molwantwa will be aiming for glory after failing to make the finals last year.<\/p>\n

In another anticipated semifinal, last year’s flyweight (51kg) division champion Rajab Mahommed from University of Botswana (UB) Boxing Club, will be looking to defend his title when he takes on Otsile Mogobye from Francistown Boxing Club.<\/p>\n

BoBA secretary general Taolo Tlouetsile stated in an interview that the finals will be played tomorrow, still at the UB Indoor Sports Centre, starting at 9am. Tlouetsile pointed that they have no sponsor for the competition, therefore they will not issue prize monies for the boxers.<\/p>\n
