Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Several Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) operating in the health space have been directly impacted by suspension of aid by the US Government.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a press statement from the Ministry of Health, those particularly involved in HIV\/AIDS prevention and treatment, have ceased operations, including services from organisations such as Tebelopele Voluntary Testing and Counselling centers.<\/p>\n

The release says because of this indefinite closure of such facilities, the ministry advises members of the public and clients affected to seek alternative services at the nearest public health facilities.<\/p>\n

It says effort is being made to ensure services are provided as usual, noting however that some partners offering services within public health facilities continue to operate.<\/p>\n

The Ministry also emphasises that lubricants, condoms, and other preventive devices will be made available at public and private facilities to prevent any service gap.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile provision of antiretroviral (ARVs) at post offices is suspended, the ministry is arranging alternative communication for patients to access continued service provision.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the ministry is consulting stakeholders to determine how services for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) victims can be alternatively provided.<\/p>\n

The ministry therefore assures the public of its commitment to sharing updates on the issue and any other developments related to the suspension of aid.<\/p>\n
