{"id":7477,"date":"2022-05-24T11:01:44","date_gmt":"2022-05-24T11:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/centralization-of-investment-attraction-activities-welcome-bema"},"modified":"2022-05-24T14:20:47","modified_gmt":"2022-05-24T14:20:47","slug":"centralization-of-investment-attraction-activities-welcome-bema","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/botswana\/all-news\/centralization-of-investment-attraction-activities-welcome-bema","title":{"rendered":"Centralization of investment attraction activities welcome \u2013 BEMA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Botswana. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Botswana Exporters and Manufacturers Association (BEMA) has welcomed government\u2019s decision to house its investment promotion activities under a single entity.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The decision was announced by President Mokgweetsi Masisi recently as he unveiled the rationalization of Ministries and State-Owned Enterprises (SOE).<\/p>\n<p>Under the new arrangement, the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), the Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA) and the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) will merge into a single entity.<\/p>\n<p>BEMA Chief Executive Officer Mmantlha Sankoloba hailed the decision as a step in the right direction that would ensure proper coordination of government\u2019s investment attraction efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch a development will ensure that investors get to hear a single and coordinated voice from Botswana, unlike in the current set-up where various organisations carry out their own investment promotion activities without proper coordination,\u201d she said. \u201cIt makes sense to have a single entity focusing on investment promotion activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BEMA facilitates manufacturing and export by empowering members through the provision of networking and trade opportunities.
