Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Segolame Boy has sent the national team selectors a message following his man of the match performance in Township Rollers’ 3-0 drubbing of Extension Gunners. Boy was recently omitted from the Zebras\u2019 2023 AFCON qualifiers squad.<\/b><\/p>\n

However, during his side’s Botswana Premier League tie played at the National Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the creative midfielder scored a brace and bagged an assist. He also scored a solitary goal a fortnight ago when Rollers defeated Jwaneng Galaxy in another Premier League encounter. Saturday’s two goals were Boy’s ninth and 10th of the campaign as he reached double figures in a season marred by a series of injuries. Just eight minutes into the tie, Boy tested Gunners goalkeeper, Gofaone Tapologo from a freekick but he parried the ball away for a corner. From that chance, Gunners enjoyed much of the ball possession. They were, however, hit by early injury as Kgotso Phuti was stretched out and replaced by Omphile Vissage on the 22nd minute. Three minutes later, Boy’s effort was just inches over the bar from Motsholetsi Sikele\u2019s cross. Meanwhile, Lemponye Tshireletso drilled his shot from range just wide off the post on the 28th minute. On the 38th minute, Boy tried a curler from outside the box but Tapologo was equal to the task with another good save. Two minutes to the break, Simisane Mathumo opened the scores as he nodded from close range. On the brink of half time, Ovella Ochieng saw his effort parried for a corner as Popa took a 1-0 lead in to the break.<\/p>\n

Rollers were 2-0 up on the 54th minute as Boy tapped in from close range, benefiting from some poor marking by Gunners. Five minutes later, the midfielder bagged his brace after controlling and slotting past the keeper to make it 3-0 for the hosts. The Blues were then in full control of the contest as Gunners resorted to a more defensive approach to keep the score respectable. Following the loss, Gunners will miss out on the top eight bracket as Rollers took the points tally to 67 and will finish the campaign as the runner-up.<\/p>\n
