Africa-Press – Botswana. <\/strong><\/span>Re-elected Kgatleng District Council (KDC) chairperson, Daniel Molokwe says he wants his council to be the best when it comes to service delivery.He also thanked fellow councillors for trusting in him and appreciated the cooperation they had shown him since he led them from 2019 to date.
\n<\/b>
\n\u201cWhen this time of the year comes, we need to remind ourselves if we are still in line with our mandate when we took over council or not,\u201d Molokwe said when delivering his acceptance speech on Friday at a council meeting in Mochudi after Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) fellows renewed his mandate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have promised Bakgatla that we will give them the best service as BDP councillors when we took over and I still want to assure them that we have not changed or gone back on the promises we made. Even if we have financial constraints since COVID-19 has affected the country, we are trying our best to deliver some of the promises as a council.\u201d<\/p>\n

Molokwe urged the council to support small businesses in the district so that they can create jobs for youth.<\/p>\n

The council chairperson added that if small business people are supported then the unemployment rate, which is also high in the district, will be reduced.<\/p>\n

He asked residents to support businesses in their communities for the development of their area.<\/p>\n

\u201cGo botlhokwa bagaetsho gore re tshwaragane re dire se se tshwanetseng go isa ditlamelo ko bathong,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On the issue of roads, Molokwe said the KDC is trying hard to improve internal roads and repair others that have bad potholes.<\/p>\n

On other issues, the council chairperson pleaded with councillors to cooperate and work hand-in-hand with different village leaders for development.<\/p>\n

Still on district issues, Molokwe pleaded with the public to take care of themselves as COVID-19 cases are starting to go up again.<\/p>\n

He advised those who are due for a COVID-19 booster to take it so that they protect themselves from the virus.<\/p>\n
