Depuis le premier cas confirme\u0301 le 25 juillet 2024, jusqu\u2019au 15 septembre, le Burundi a signale\u0301 564 cas de variole du singe (Mpox), dont 62,9 % sont a\u0302ge\u0301s de moins de 19 ans, et plus de 1 576 cas suspects, pre\u0301cise le communique\u0301 notant qu\u2019il y a eu 1 774 alertes dans 34 des 49 districts sanitaires du pays.<\/p>\n

Les trois districts sanitaires de Bujumbura a\u0300 savoir Mukaza, Ntahangwa et Muha e\u0301tant l\u2019e\u0301picentre de l\u2019e\u0301pide\u0301mie, selon la me\u0302me source.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Le nombre grandissant de cas de Mpox parmi les enfants du Burundi, y compris les enfants de moins de cinq ans, est tre\u0300s pre\u0301occupant, et les prote\u0301ger est notre priorite\u0301 absolue \u00bb, a de\u0301clare\u0301 France Be\u0301gin, repre\u0301sentante de l\u2019UNICEF au Burundi cite\u0301e dans le communique\u0301, annonc\u0327ant que ses e\u0301quipes travaillent en e\u0301troite collaboration avec le ministe\u0300re de l\u2019Education pour mettre en place des mesures sanitaires dans les e\u0301coles, prote\u0301ger les e\u0301le\u0300ves et e\u0301viter de nouvelles perturbations de l\u2019enseignement.<\/p>\n

Pour faire face a\u0300 l’e\u0301pide\u0301mie de Mpox dans six pays africains (Burundi, RDC, Rwanda, Kenya, Ouganda et Re\u0301publique centrafricaine) ou\u0300 les enfants sont les plus touche\u0301s, l\u2019UNICEF a lance\u0301, il y a quelques jours, un appel de 58,8 millions de dollars ame\u0301ricains.<\/p>\n

Une enveloppe qui sera utilise\u0301e, selon le communique\u0301, pour stopper la transmission, a\u0300 prote\u0301ger les enfants et a\u0300 assurer le maintien des services essentiels.<\/p>\n

D\u2019apre\u0300s ce me\u0302me communique\u0301, il s\u2019agit notamment d\u2019assurer la coordination avec les autorite\u0301s sanitaires et les partenaires, de promouvoir la vaccination, d\u2019ame\u0301liorer la lutte contre les infections et d\u2019apporter un soutien en matie\u0300re de sante\u0301 mentale.<\/p>\n
