Africa-Press – Cameroun. <\/strong><\/span>The pioneer cultural festival took place at the esplanade of the Nkwen Fon\u2019s Palace on Friday, November 26, and Saturday, November 27, 2021, in the presence of a thick crowd of the culture-hungry populace.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the Festival of Heritage, Arts and Culture sought to lighten the mood of a population trapped in the Anglophone crisis since 2016 and the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020, which justifies the theme: \u201cOur culture bond of togetherness reconnecting to our roots reviving cultural values and enhancing peaceful co-existence for socio-economic empowerment of Bamenda III.\u201d<\/p>\n

Opening the festival on Friday, North-West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique Deben Tchoffo hailed the Mayor of Bamenda III for championing such a vision that transcends all socio-political barriers. The senior civil administrator and representative of the state in the North-West Region praised the population for defying threats from separatists to honor the august appointment at the courtyard of the Nkwen Fon\u2019s Palace.<\/p>\n

Moved by the massive turnout, Governor Lele said the people of the North-West Region are peace and culture-loving. He thus enjoined them to preach peace at a time when armed separatist militia has made life a living hell in the region. He called on other councils to follow the example of Bamenda III.<\/p>\n

Mayor Fonguh Cletus Tanwe of Bamenda III said rapid modernization poses a threat to the survival of the cultures of the people of his municipality. To jealously guard the last vestiges of the rich cultures of Bamenda III, the Festival of Heritage, Arts, and Culture was born.<\/p>\n

HRM Fon Azefor III of Nkwen emphasized the need for the population to hold strong to their culture for people without culture is without an origin and are like trees without roots.<\/p>\n

The rich cultures of Bamenda III were showcased in dance, exhibitions, and culinary arts. Among the thousands who turned out to savor the two-day celebration of culture were: the President of the North-West Regional Assembly Prof. Fru Angwafo III, the President of the North-West Hous of Chief HRM Fon Yakum Teuvih, the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam Emile Mooh among others.<\/p>\n
