Novembre 2022. C\u2019est \u00e0 cette date que l\u2019infrastructure devrait commencer \u00e0 sortir de terre. Avec cette usine, il sera question de produire avec le fruit (banane-plantain) des d\u00e9riv\u00e9s tels que la farine, les chips, de la liqueur, des p\u00e2tes enrichies \u00e0 la semoule de plantain, la p\u00e2te \u00e0 papier, etc.<\/p>\n

Et le tronc, les feuilles et les \u00e9pluchures serviront \u00e0 la production de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9, du carburant et du biogaz. Cette usine a pour ambition de transformer des produits r\u00e9colt\u00e9s sur une superficie globale de 360 hectares.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Une ambition agro-industrielle qui devrait permettre la cr\u00e9ation des milliers d\u2019emplois directs et indirects et favoriser le d\u00e9veloppement infrastructurel \u00bb, a expliqu\u00e9 Gabriel Dodo Ndok\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Avant cette usine, d\u2019autres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 annonc\u00e9es. Un contrat de partenariat pour la construction d\u2019une usine de transformation de la banane-plantain avait \u00e9t\u00e9 sign\u00e9 le 09 juin 2016 \u00e0 Yaound\u00e9 entre la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019actions prioritaires int\u00e9gr\u00e9es de d\u00e9veloppement agricole au Cameroun (Sapidacam) et le groupe espagnole Tomsa Destil, sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans la transformation agro-industrielle.<\/p>\n

D\u2019un montant de 125 milliards de F, cette convention pr\u00e9voyait la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019une usine de transformation de la banane-plantain, de 20 agropoles. Cette usine avait \u00e9t\u00e9 annonc\u00e9e pour la ville d\u2019Esse \u00e0 une centaine de Kilom\u00e8tre de Yaound\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Avec une capacit\u00e9 de production annuelle de 500 000 tonnes de banane-plantain, 300 000 tonnes de farine de plantain, 200 000 tonnes de chips et pr\u00e8s de 2 milliards de litres d\u2019\u00e9thanol. Le Cameroun va ainsi pouvoir combler son d\u00e9ficit en mati\u00e8re de demande locale en banane-plantain.<\/p>\n

L\u2019usine de Pouma, pour sa part devait transformer la banane plantain en chips puis en farine. Elle devait par ailleurs produire 190 tonnes de farine chaque ann\u00e9e. Pour ce faire, elle devait \u00eatre approvisionn\u00e9e \u00e0 hauteur de 1500 tonnes de bananes plantain par an.<\/p>\n

Pour rappel, en plus d\u2019une production insuffisante pour satisfaire les besoins des consommateurs, la banane plantain n\u2019est valoris\u00e9e qu\u2019\u00e0 environ 30 % au Cameroun, selon les experts.<\/p>\n

Afin de tirer profit des avantages que rec\u00e8le la fili\u00e8re banane plantain, le gouvernement camerounais a lanc\u00e9, en 2005, le Programme de reconversion de la fili\u00e8re banane plantain (Prebap). 17 ans apr\u00e8s, le Prebap n\u2019a v\u00e9ritablement pas pu \u00eatre mis en \u0153uvre.<\/p>\n
