En effet, cette initiative est de l\u2019Union postale universelle (UPU) qui chaque ann\u00e9e, lance un programme d\u2019\u00e9mission conjointe d\u2019un timbre. Cette ann\u00e9e, c\u2019est l\u2019image de Mahatma Gandhi qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisie \u00e0 l\u2019occasion de la comm\u00e9moration de son 150\u00e8me anniversaire. N\u00e9 le 2 octobre 1869 en Inde, Gandhi est reconnu pour son engagement contre la violence.<\/p>\n

Ainsi, le quotidien national bilingue Cameroon Tribune en kiosque ce 1er avril 2021 rapporte que \u00abla CAMPOST a r\u00e9pondu favorablement \u00e0 cette initiative de comm\u00e9moration du 150\u00e8me anniversaire du guide indien Mahatma Gandhi, \u00e0 travers l\u2019\u00e9mission des timbres \u00e0 l\u2019image de \u2018\u2019cette grande \u00e2me\u2019\u2019\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Interrog\u00e9, Jacques Rodrigue Ndong, un responsable de la Cameroon Postal Services, affirme que les th\u00e8mes varient et chaque pays est libre d\u2019adh\u00e9rer au projet ou pas.<\/p>\n

Il poursuit en disant que pour cette ann\u00e9e, \u00aben ex\u00e9cution des tr\u00e8s hautes instructions du chef de l\u2019Etat et aux fins de rendre hommage \u00e0 certaines personnalit\u00e9s ayant marqu\u00e9 l\u2019histoire contemporaine du monde, la CAMPOST a \u00e9mis en d\u00e9cembre 2020 trois timbres-poste \u00e0 l\u2019effigie du guide indien. Cette \u00e9mission vise aussi \u00e0 renforcer les liens de coop\u00e9ration entre le Cameroun et l\u2019Inde\u00bb, peut-on lire dans les colonnes du journal. Ces timbres co\u00fbtent 125 FCFA, 250 FCFA et 500 FCFA sur un format de 40×30 mm. \u00ab1, 250 millions d\u2019exemplaires seront mis en vente au Cameroun\u00bb, pr\u00e9cise le journal.<\/p>\n

\u00abLa CAMPOST tout comme la plupart des op\u00e9rateurs postaux, a coutume de faire la promotion de certains timbres avant leur mise en circulation. L\u2019enveloppe du premier jour porte ainsi le timbre \u00e9mis oblit\u00e9r\u00e9 par un cachet sp\u00e9cial. Par ailleurs, certains collectionneurs ach\u00e8tent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement pour leurs collections\u00bb<\/b>, conclut Jacques Rodrigue Ndong.<\/p>\n

Enfin, ces timbres serviront \u00e0 l\u2019affranchissement des courriers. D\u2019apr\u00e8s notre confr\u00e8re, c\u2019est une initiative qui contribuera davantage \u00e0 entretenir l\u2019image de ce partisan de la justice sociale et de la non-violence qu\u2019\u00e9tait Mahatma Gandhi.<\/p>\n
