Armel Bella-Kotchap ! Southampton ne pouvait pas passer \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 d\u2019un aussi futur grand talent. Ses 22 matchs disput\u00e9s la saison derni\u00e8re en Bundesliga avec son club de Bochum ont fini par en persuader plus d\u2019un. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 transf\u00e9r\u00e9 de Bochum pour les Saints moyennant 20 millions d\u2019euros. Cela en fait le d\u00e9part le plus cher de l\u2019histoire du club de Bochum.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s quatre journ\u00e9es de Premier League, le natif de Paris (n\u00e9 le 11 d\u00e9cembre 2001), titulaire en charni\u00e8re centrale de Southampton, est d\u00e9j\u00e0 consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme une r\u00e9v\u00e9lation. S\u2019il a vu le jour en France, c\u2019est en Allemagne que le jeune Bella-Kotchap a \u00e9t\u00e9 form\u00e9. Son p\u00e8re, Cyrille Bella, l\u2019ancien international camerounais ayant pass\u00e9 l\u2019essentiel de sa carri\u00e8re professionnelle en Allemagne : Sc Paderborn, LR Ahlen, Rot-Weib Obenrhaussen, Sv Wilhelmshaven, Kitchee Sc.<\/p>\n

S\u2019il a le physique tout crach\u00e9 de son p\u00e8re (1m90) qui \u00e9tait avant-centre, il s\u2019est fix\u00e9 en d\u00e9fense centrale d\u00e8s sa plus tendre enfance au MSV Duisbourg. Puis, il a rejoint VFL Bochum en 2017. Le 3 mars 2019, il signe son premier contrat professionnel avec le VfL Bochum. Le 28 avril 2019, il joue son premier match en professionnel, en \u00e9tant titularis\u00e9 lors d\u2019une rencontre de deuxi\u00e8me division allemande face au Fc Ergebirge Aue. Ses bonnes prestations lui ouvrent les portes des s\u00e9lections jeunes en Allemagne.<\/p>\n

Il commence \u00e0 s\u2019installer en \u00e9quipe premi\u00e8re comme titulaire incontest\u00e9 lors de la saison 2019\/2020, o\u00f9 il est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme l\u2019un des joueurs les plus prometteurs de deuxi\u00e8me division allemande. Le 14 f\u00e9vrier 2021, Bella-Kotchap inscrit son premier but en professionnel, lors d\u2019une rencontre de championnat face \u00e0 L\u2019Eintracht Brunswick. Il ouvre le score de la t\u00eate, son point fort.<\/p>\n

Avec son m\u00e8tre 90, le robuste d\u00e9fenseur ne passe pas inaper\u00e7u. Sa taille lui donne un avantage non n\u00e9gligeable pour son jeu de t\u00eate qu\u2019il ma\u00eetrise parfaitement. A l\u2019image des d\u00e9fenseurs modernes, il est bien s\u00fbr \u00e0 l\u2019aise ballon au pied, ce qui lui permet de ressortir proprement les ballons que ce soit court ou long.<\/p>\n

Des qualit\u00e9s qui devraient pousser le duo Samuel Eto\u2019o-Rigobert Song \u00e0 convaincre Bella-Kotchap de rejoindre les Lions indomptables dont la d\u00e9fense conduite par Ngadeu Ngadjui s\u2019est montr\u00e9e assez f\u00e9brile ces derniers temps. L\u2019\u00e9quation de persuasion ne devrait pas \u00eatre tr\u00e8s difficile pour le manager-s\u00e9lectionneur qui a rencontr\u00e9 plusieurs fois son p\u00e8re Cyrille Bella, dans la tani\u00e8re des Lions, surtout que le challenge est de taille avec \u00e0 la cl\u00e9 la participation de Bella \u2013Kotchap au Mondial qatari.<\/p>\n
