Alors que chaque parti cherche a\u0300 capitaliser sur la pe\u0301riode d’inscription sur les listes e\u0301lectorales en pre\u0301vision de l’e\u0301lection pre\u0301sidentielle de 2025, des accusations fusent de l’opposition, affirmant que le parti au pouvoir utilise Elecam, l’organe charge\u0301 du scrutin, a\u0300 ses propres fins.<\/p>\n

La sce\u0300ne lors des ouvertures d’inscriptions sur les listes e\u0301lectorales au Cameroun est familie\u0300re: des militants politiques arpentent les quartiers, ve\u0302tus aux couleurs de leur parti, appelant les citoyens a\u0300 s’inscrire sur le fichier. En cette anne\u0301e 2024, l’approche de l’e\u0301lection pre\u0301sidentielle pre\u0301vue l’anne\u0301e suivante ne fait qu’intensifier cette activite\u0301.<\/p>\n

Erik Essousse, directeur ge\u0301ne\u0301ral d’Elections Cameroon (Elecam), a lance\u0301 la campagne de re\u0301vision des listes e\u0301lectorales a\u0300 Yaounde\u0301 le 4 janvier dernier. Depuis lors, les e\u0301quipes d’Elecam reprennent leur travail dans les quartiers, souvent e\u0301paule\u0301es par des militants de l’opposition.<\/p>\n

Le Mouvement pour la renaissance du Cameroun (MRC) de Maurice Kamto, principal opposant au pre\u0301sident Paul Biya, me\u0300ne depuis 2017 une campagne d’inscription massive sur les listes e\u0301lectorales malgre\u0301 les obstacles et les intimidations. Ces efforts visent a\u0300 renforcer la base territoriale du parti, mobiliser les masses et augmenter son poids e\u0301lectoral.<\/p>\n

En re\u0301ponse, le Rassemblement de\u0301mocratique du peuple camerounais (RDPC) au pouvoir, conscient des de\u0301fis pose\u0301s par l’opposition, de\u0301ploie e\u0301galement des efforts pour mobiliser les e\u0301lecteurs. Le secre\u0301taire ge\u0301ne\u0301ral du comite\u0301 central, Jean Nkuete, a e\u0301labore\u0301 une strate\u0301gie de de\u0301ploiement et demande\u0301 a\u0300 ses responsables d’assurer les inte\u0301re\u0302ts du RDPC.<\/p>\n

Cependant, malgre\u0301 les efforts des deux camps, certaines difficulte\u0301s entravent le processus d’inscription. Les machines d’enregistrement semblent souvent rencontrer des proble\u0300mes techniques en cas de forte affluence, de\u0301courageant de nombreux citoyens. De plus, le processus d’enregistrement lui-me\u0302me est critique\u0301 pour sa dure\u0301e et son inefficacite\u0301.<\/p>\n

Un autre point de discorde concerne la transparence du fichier e\u0301lectoral. Des demandes ont e\u0301te\u0301 faites pour rendre publique la liste e\u0301lectorale nationale, mais Elecam reste muet sur la question. Des alle\u0301gations de manipulations des inscriptions et de curiosite\u0301s entourent e\u0301galement le processus d’inscription.<\/p>\n

Enfin, la diaspora camerounaise, forte de millions de personnes dans le monde, pourrait jouer un ro\u0302le crucial dans le choix du futur pre\u0301sident. Des activistes ont re\u0301cemment exige\u0301 l’ouverture de bureaux de vote en France, soulignant l’importance de la participation des Camerounais a\u0300 l’e\u0301tranger dans le processus e\u0301lectoral.<\/p>\n

Malgre\u0301 ces de\u0301fis, l’opposition et la socie\u0301te\u0301 civile continuent de pousser pour des re\u0301formes et une plus grande transparence dans le processus e\u0301lectoral, tandis que les tensions politiques continuent de monter a\u0300 l’approche des e\u0301lections.<\/p>\n
