Africa-Press – Cape verde. April of next year is the indicative month for the organization of the first Cape Verdean business diaspora fair, in Paris, France. This is an initiative by emigrant, in France, Dina Mendes in partnership with the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Cape Verde and the Ministry of Communities.
The information was advanced, after the signing of a tripartite cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Communities, HD Consulting and the Nices Group/Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Cape Verde, as partners in this initiative, according to Inforpress.
According to Dina Mendes, the fair will take place between April 15 and 16, next year, in Paris, as a way to connect companies and entrepreneurs from the diaspora and take institutions from Cape Verde to disseminate information about investment opportunities in the archipelago.
“The idea came up when I came to Cape Verde with the intention of seeing what area I could make some investment in, since I emigrated to France when I was 12, but I always wanted to create a company here in my land, where I have families, to give them the opportunity to create jobs”, he advanced.
The main objective, he explained, is to put entrepreneurs in the diaspora in contact, doing, for example, like the Chinese, “who group products among themselves”, because, when they manage to make that connection, they will have “more strength” there, but also in Cape Green.
The second objective is to bring national institutions to the fair to facilitate, through precise information, and in real time, those potentially interested in investing in the archipelago.
Business diaspora from across Europe
The Minister of Communities, Jorge Santos, also highlighted the importance of this partnership.
“It is a fair that includes not only Cape Verdean businessmen in France, but also throughout Luxembourg, the Netherlands and throughout Europe, together with Cape Verdean businessmen”, he said.
As I said, it will also be an opportunity to create a database of the entrepreneurial capacity of the diaspora, indicating that the participation of communities in Cape Verde’s GDP “is significant” since it represents 34 percent (%) of GDP from Cape Verde.
The protocol is for two years, but Jorge Santos expressed the desire for Cape Verde to have fairs in other places, such as in Africa, and in the other host countries.
