Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mayor of São Filipe, Nuías Silva, said this Wednesday that his institution is available to help financially and sociologically the Local Network for the Protection of Children Against Abuse and Sexual Exploitation.
The openness and availability were manifested in the opening ceremony of the Network’s local headquarters, located in the neighborhood of Achada São Filipe, in front of the secondary school Dr. Teixeira de Sousa, having also made available to help with social work in the neighborhoods and in identifying critical points and even filing these responsibilities.
The island of Fogo, with regard to sexual abuse and exploitation, deserves “special attention”, whether from civil society, local and national authorities who, according to Nuías Silva, have to design “specific, concrete and convergent” policies for residents with specific needs.
“We have a diagnosis that the issue of abuse against children and adolescents in abuse and sexual exploitation material deserves special attention from everyone,” he declared.
