Africa-Press – Cape verde. A total of 15 mothers who are heads of households in Tarrafal de Santiago have recently received support to implement income-generating activities, within the scope of the project to strengthen systems and mechanisms to protect children against abuse and sexual exploitation.
According to the local authority, these are kits provided by the National/Local Network for Protection Against Abuse and Sexual Exploitation, in partnership with the City Council of Tarrafal and ACRIDES – Association of Disadvantaged Children.
The act of delivery was chaired by the Mayor, José dos Reis, who highlighted the importance of this partnership.
The same highlighted that, when the subject is “family”, it is necessary to “break” all borders to “make our contribution”.
In addition to the mothers who are heads of household, who highlighted the importance of this support, the initiative was also attended by the President of the Municipal Assembly, Adilson Costa, the President of ACRIDES, Lourença Tavares, the Coordinator of the Local Network for Protection Against Abuse and Sexual Exploitation, Tereza Sanches, and other representatives of institutions, NGOs and civil society associations.
