Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Presidency of the Republic is open to the public for visitation from today, the 13th until the 20th, to mark the XII week of the Republic with activities alluding to the Day of Freedom and Democracy and the Day of National Heroes.

This year’s edition has a special dimension, which is the 50th anniversary of the murder of Amílcar Cabral. To mark this event, the President of the Republic unveils a plaque with a special tribute from the Nation to this greatest figure in national history.

The doors of the Presidency of the Republic will be open, from this Friday, the 13th until the 20th of January, between 15:00 and 18:00 for the entire population. Visitors will be guided through the Palace and will be able to attend a cultural session with music and Spoken Word.

Reflections

The program promoted by the Presidency of the Republic foresees two moments of reflection.

On Monday, Professor Filipe Teles, from the University of Aveiro, will be the speaker at the conference “Local Power in the 21st century: clues for an integrated governance”. On Tuesday, the theme will be “The Cape Verdean Nation: between challenges and concerns”, with Professor Gabriel Fernandes, Rector of the University of Santiago, as speaker. Access to conferences is free.

Armed Forces Day and the launch of the book “Baskudja Identidadi”, by Crisálida Correia, are also part of the programme, which ends on January 20th with a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the murder of Cabral, to take place on the Assomada pedestrian street .

The XII week of the Republic takes place under the motto “Fulfill Today’s Dreams”. Admission is free.
