Africa-Press – Cape verde. The new maritime transport concession contract between the Government and the concessionaire will be concluded soon, assured the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, who speaks of more ships and better services.
The PM assures that with the new concession contract the inter-island maritime connection problems will be solved.
“More boats have already been put on the line, then we are in the process of negotiating the concession contract which we think will soon be closed and we want to come out with a much stronger and much more structuring solution to achieve the objective of guaranteeing regularity and frequencies for connections between the islands,” he said.
The head of government preferred not to set a date for signing the new concession contract, stressing that the government is working in that direction. However, he said that despite the problems, there are clear improvements.
The Government of Cape Verde signed, on February 15, 2019, the Concession Contract for the Public Service of Maritime Transport of Passengers and Cargo (SPTMII) with Cabo Verde Inter Ilhas.
However, in July 2022, it announced the revision of the concession contract aimed at “improving the provision of the public service and limiting the compensatory allowance to what is strictly necessary”.
